2011 MLB Roadtrip

Baseball 2011 Road Trip Baby!

Memorial Day weekend we packed up the car, kissed the kids good bye and headed off on a great adventure. We saw 5 MLB games in 4 short days in 3 different cities. It was so much fun. It was nice to just be away from my kids, I love them but Matt and I don't get away from them together much so it was a nice thing to do. We decided it would be fun to go with my sister Cadie and brother in law David and we had an abosolutely fabulous time. We left Friday afternoon and headed to Milwaukee, we really wanted to do a tour of the Miller Brewery but traffic was rough and we didn't have time, the Brewer's lost by 1 run so it was nice to see a close game. We had an adventure finding a spot to eat dinner that night but memories were made. We woke up early and headed to Chicago to catch a Cub's game. The Cubs lost 10-0, not much of a game to watch really. We still had fun, and we got "deals" on a can of beer pre-game for $6, yeah apparently that is a deal. Let's just say the dutch woman in me had just one beer at that outrageous price. After the game we headed to Jackson, MI for the night and had a really good dinner at a local restaurant and then went to see the Hangover 2. I heard it was great, I wore sweatpants to the 11pm. showing and fell asleep and SLEPT the entire movie. After a good nights sleep we woke up and drove to Detroit and caught a game there. We had sweet seats in the front row of the Tiger's bullpen. We got to see a lot. We were supposed to see Verlander vs. Becket but the rain out the night before messed that up, lucky for us they were going to do a double header so we decided we would get tickets for that game later that night. My parents drove over and caught the game Sunday night with us. After the game we went to Greektown to eat some appetizers and then back to the hotel. The next day was a HOT one. We were lucky enough to score air conditioned seats in the Tiger's Club so we watched the game in comfort and style. On the way home we stopped at a restaurant a friend of ours works at near Plymouth and then it was time to get home and see the kids. We had a wonderful weekend away. I felt like a better mom when I came home because I had the chance to get away. Thanks for the great memories!
